How much does it cost to send my kid to Camp Oh-Neh-Tah?
If your child is eligible for free or reduced school lunches, the total cost for camp will be $25, which is the registration fee for Camp Oh-Neh-Tah in 2024. We require proof of income to determine eligibility. For more information or assistance with the application process, please contact our team.
How does Camp Oh-Neh-Tah care for the health and safety of its girls?
At our Health Center, we have a team of licensed medical professionals, including registered nurses (RNs), EMTs, or paramedics, dedicated to attending to the daily health needs of our campers and staff. All medications are securely checked in at our bus site and stored in the Clinic. Here, under the vigilant supervision of our medical staff, your child will receive their medication following precise instructions provided by your child's physician.
It's important to note that our Health Director won't contact you for every minor scratch or insect bite, similar to school practices. However, we reserve the option to communicate with you in the event of more serious injuries or illnesses.
What if my child is homesick or does not like Camp?
Encouraging independence means allowing your child time to adjust if they feel homesick or upset. We ask that parents not promise an early return if their child feels homesick. Children should commit to the full session, unless there's an emergency, behavioral issue, or illness. Our trained staff is attentive to signs of homesickness, ensuring your child's well-being and happiness throughout their time at camp.
Can we visit the camp? Send Letters or Emails?
Visitors are not permitted at camp when camp is in session. We value the importance of maintaining correspondence with your child as it enhances their camp experience. Please write to her regularly. You can send emails to the Assistant Director at acd@girlsquest.org, and we'll ensure your child receives your messages.
Can my kid bring her cell phone or tablet?
We understand the importance of staying connected with loved ones. Campers are allowed to bring their cell phones or tablets on the bus journey to camp. Once they disembark from the bus, these devices will be safely held by our staff, ensuring a focused and enjoyable camp experience. We appreciate your cooperation in helping create a technology-free and immersive environment for all campers during their stay.
What do we have to pack?
For clothing, we recommend sending older or inexpensive items, as girls often get their clothes dirty during activities. Laundry services are available for essential items.
Money is not needed at camp, and it's not permitted.
You'll receive a detailed Packing List before your child's departure. Please label their belongings, as it's common for items to be misplaced or left behind. We cannot be held responsible for lost personal items.
How are Counselors selected and what qualifications do they have?
Our staff is chosen for their leadership, values, and ability to motivate youth, with thorough background and reference checks conducted prior to hiring. They receive extensive on- and off line training and are supervised by experienced administrators.
Camp Oh-Neh-Tah's team is mature, enthusiastic, and diverse, including alumni, educators, and college students in relevant fields. Though primarily a girls' camp, we include male staff in certain roles, with separate housing on-site.
